From Venere portal

If you want to visit Florence, but are not sure if you can put up with the noise and crowds of the city 24/7 then the Fattoria Settemerli should be your first choice for accomodation. Although it is situated in a village on the outskirts of Florence, within 15 minutes bus-ride of the city centre, its peacefulness and the rolling fields surrounding Settemerli could easily lead a visitor to believe they were in the depths of the countryside. The building itself is stunning- once part of a 14th century monastery, I believe, and our room was cosy and comfortable (I do like a hard bed though!) Breakfast is served in a beautiful old-fashioned dining room with a huge fireplace and consists of, amongst other things, delicious and unusual jams made in the monastery and fresh eggs from the farm. The owners are very friendly, as are their pets (we met two cats, a parrot and some chickens!). We were reliant on public transport for the duration of our stay and once we'd found our bearings, had a completely hassle free time travelling to and fro to the city centre. The #36 (or #37) bus will take you from the piazza in front of Santa Maria Novella church (2 minutes from the station in Florence) all the way to a stop called Le Gore, where infront of you as you step off the bus is the gate leading to Settemerli (a further 5 minute walk away). The #37 bus doesn't take you up to the gate, but drops you in the village of Galluzzo, which is a very short walk to Le Gore. This is also true of the #68 bus which takes over from the #36/37 at around 9pm, and will get you home from Florence until half past midnight.

We were very lucky to get a last minute booking at this ideally located farmhouse. It's far enough away from Florence to be very restful and relaxing while having the convenience factor of the buses and the nearby village of Galluzzo for doing the tourist thing. On top of the location is the excellent service (great assitance given to people who have various needs - renting cars for the day and the like), the fabulous farm breakfast (I'm Irish so I'm very partial to a boiled egg and tasty bread, ham, yogurts, tea etc....) This farmhouse is exactly what I thought it should be. If you want a hotel in the centre then that's what you should book but if you're looking to get away from the mad rush of the city for quiet evenings in the countryside with no tv etc., then I highly recommend Fattoria Settemerli. Enjoy your holiday!

The farmhouse "Fattoria Settemerli" was sorrounded by beautiful coutryside. this is an ideal place to stay and unwind for a few relaxing days. However there is a 1/4 mile walk up a long dirt track road to get to it, (so luggage with wheels or a hire car is best) but I can assure you if you walk it, it is well worth the hike! The #36 will take you straight to the main entrance to the Farhouse at "Le Gore" stop. The local village is less than a ten minute walk away, where you'll find a supermarket, various other food shops and a local market which is open until 12 noon (this is the best place to buy fruit, veg and bread). The centre of Florence is about 20 minutes by bus, or less if you decide to hire a car. The accomodation is very spacious, although the bathroom was slighty on the small side. We all throughly enjoyed our stay here, and would definately return.

Very nice and quiet place to stay when visiting Florence. After a whole day wallking and sightseeing this place is like an oasis. Busstop right at the exit of the garden. Very friendly staff. We recommend this bed and breakfast type of accomodation to all who want to visit Florence and the surroundings.

Beautiful farm on a hill in the Tuscan country side at the end of the #36 bus line from Florence. Great get away from the crowds in Florence. The staff helped us make reservations for the museums (definately required for the big ones). This is what we wanted when we booked a room in a Tuscan farm house. If there is any issue with Fattoria Settemerli, it would be making sure you cought the last #36 bus out at night or it gets either a little more complicated or expensive (Bus 1 Euro vs. Taxi 18+ Euros).

We loved this place!! Much more than we had even expected!! The next visit will include extra time that we can spend on the farm just enjoying the horses and countryside!
